Undergraduates Madeleine Hunt, Justin Bye, Haley Pettenati, and Adam Baranik joined MS student Cole Hediger in the Castle group this year. While research has been slow because of COVID, we are looking forward to better days ahead this spring and summer!
Professor Castle will be spending one more year (through July 2020) as Associate Dean of Faculty for the Natural Sciences and Mathematics while finishing up current research projects. She will begin recruiting new research students for new projects in the spring of 2020.
2018 Honors
Congratulations to Lauren Eckermann and Rileigh Casebolt on successfully defending their honors theses this spring!
Lauren Eckermann, Conor Flynn, and I recently published a paper on self-quenching of the symmetric stretching mode of carbon dioxide in the new ACS Journal, Earth and Space Chemistry. This work was the basis of Conor’s MS thesis as well as Lauren’s honors thesis.
In the fall of 2016, Professor Castle began a 3-year term as Associate Dean of Faculty for the Division of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, College of Arts & Sciences. She will continue to work on research projects with undergraduates during this term.
New Group Members!
Promotion and Professorship
Professor Castle has been promoted and named the Russell-Childers Professor of Chemistry! What a great way to start her 2016-17 academic year sabbatical!
